About

Foothill Community Church was organized in 1988 in the Crescenta Valley.  A daughter congregation of the Los Angeles Seventh Day Baptist Church, we trace our roots all the way back to seventeenth century England, the birthplace of Baptists.

In over 300 years of history, several things have marked a Seventh Day Baptist church:

  • the Sabbath
  • a Statement of Belief that upholds liberty of thought under the guidance of the Holy Spirit
  • church covenant
  • close family ties

While we believe that doctrine is important, our Statement of Belief is not considered a binding creed.  Instead, Seventh Day Baptists have formulated this statement as a declaration of what we hold in common.  It is not to be an exhaustive statement, but rather it describes in general what beliefs we share as a church and a denomination.  The Statement of Belief is simply a part of who we are as a people.

While it is true that our name gives away one of our main emphasis (we keep the seventh day holy), one of the more significant aspects of our Seventh Day Baptist church is our concept of covenant.

Covenant is a solemn agreement binding people to God and to each other with certain responsibilities.  As God’s people, we covenant to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.

We also covenant to love our neighbor as ourselves.  The covenant is the “glue” that holds the church together.  Our church is a “family of families” bound together by a loving covenant.  Our unity is based on our love for God and for each other.

We hope you will feel free to stop in and visit us some time. We think you will be glad that you did.  We invite you to become a part of our “family of families,” held together by the bond of God’s love.
